NASA detects asteroids using a combination of ground-based telescopes and space-based observatories, such as the Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) and the upcoming NEO Surveyor mission, to identify and track potentially hazardous asteroids and comets.
