Big Ideas - Episode 13 - Search For New Planets

The Big Idea of planet discovery and the exploration of distant galaxies have taken a new direction in recent times. The James Wentz Space Telescope, or the JWST, is a large, infra-red optimized, space-based telescope that will be launched into orbit early next decade. According to NASA the JWST will find the first galaxies formed in the known universe, connecting the Big Bang to our own Milky Way Galaxy. The JWST will peer into the past, and view galaxies, and clusters of galaxies, at a greater distance than ever before.
