Bomb Cyclone
By WeatherthingsFrom BoclipsOctober 16, 2025
A Bomb Cyclone is a middle-latitude low pressure storm system. It must have falling air pressure, measured by a barometer, losing at least 1 millibar per hour for 24 hours. When the pressure in a storm falls, the wind increases. You hear bombogenesis or Bomb Cyclone mostly in the winter, with powerful storm systems which could generate intense wind, waves, and storm surge like that of a hurricane, while creating extreme snowfall, blizzard conditions, flooding, and severe thunderstorms that may lead to tornadoes.
