Citrus Fruit Battery
We use lemons and strips of zinc and copper to make a battery. First, strips of copper and zinc are added to one lemon and they are connected across a voltmeter. This is repeated, this time with more lemons and metal plates, until a series circuit is created and the voltage recorded increases. The voltmeter is replaced by a digital clock, which the circuit is able to power. Physics - Electricity And Circuits - Learning Points. Batteries require two different electrodes and an electrolyte. Electrons move in the metals and ions move in the electrolyte. Acids make good electrolytes. The further apart the two electrodes are in the electrochemical series, the larger the generated voltage will be. More voltage can be produced by connecting several batteries together. A Twig Experiment Film. Let students experience real experiments in lab conditions anywhere, from setup, method all the way through to analysis and real-world application.
