Conservation Efforts for the Endangered Coelacanth: A Living Fossil Discovered in Comoros
In the seashore settlement of Salamani, veteran fisherman Mei Chamasa makes a remarkable discovery when he catches a living fossil, a silicon, believed to have been extinct for 70 million years. This finding highlights the archipelago's status as a hotspot for endangered species and prompts a conservation project to protect the remaining 200 silicon in the area. The government plans to create a reserve, attracting ecotourists and generating income for the local community while facilitating scientific research.
