El Niño
The legendary El Niño effect causes dramatic shifts of weather, resulting in droughts and floods across the globe. It can all be traced to winds dying down over the Pacific ocean. El Niño reverses patterns of air pressure and can lead to tropical thunderstorms, causing serious floods. In some parts of the world, El Niño leads to wetter weather than normal, while in other areas droughts may occur. El Niño originates in the Pacific Ocean but its cause remains a mystery.
