Exploring Moss: Nature's Directional Guide and Spanish Moss
In this video, the teacher explains how moss can be used as a directional guide in the woods. Moss usually grows on north-facing surfaces to stay in the shade, so if you see moss growing on one side of trees, it can point you in the direction of north. The video also discusses the characteristics of moss, such as its lack of roots and its ability to absorb water and nutrients through horizontal stems called rhizomes. Additionally, it mentions Spanish Moss, which is not actually a moss but an epiphyte that grows on the surface of plants.
