The Burmese Python, native to Southeast Asia, is thriving in this habitat but unfortunately is an invasive species that has slowly become a threat to other local wildlife and the overall stability of the ecosystem. It is believed a large number of these snakes have been introduced to the area by prior pet owners in an effort to rid themselves of a snake that has grown too large for their care.
