Heat and Energy: Temperature and Heat
Upon viewing the Heat and Energy video series, students will be able to do the following: State the difference between kinetic and potential energy. Name and describe six different forms of energy: thermal, chemical, mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic, and nuclear. Describe examples of energy usage in their home and school environments. Explain that all objects are made up of small particles. Discuss how particle movement changes depending on the temperature of the object. Define temperature as a measure of how hot or cold an object is. Use a thermometer to measure temperature in different situations. Discuss the direction heat flows; from warmer objects to colder ones. Define the process of energy conversion and give examples of this process.
