Hole Punch Cloud

Hole punch cloud is the nickname for a cloud type that forms when a layer of middle or high-level clouds develops a hole partially filled with ice crystals known as fall streaks. Hole punch clouds can happen naturally, but also more frequently when airplanes upset the balance of the clouds.
