This video shows you how to wind a large coil of wire (sometimes called an electromagnet or a solenoid, depending on the context) using a power drill. If you are just making a small coil that requires a few dozen wraps of wire, it is easy enough to do by hand. However, if your science project requires a large coil with hundreds or even thousands of turns, this can take a very long time to do by hand. A power drill can speed up the process and make it a lot easier.
