Introduction to A Journey Through Geologic Time

This is the first in a series called A Journey Through Geologic Time. This series takes students on a journey through geologic time starting with the formation of Earth. The concept of geologic time is discussed, and highlights of the four major geologic eras are described. Live action footage filmed on location reveals ways scientists uncover clues about geologic events. Changes in Earth's life and climate are addressed. Other terminology includes: era, period, Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic, rock layering, unconformity, absolute age, and relative age.
