James Webb Just Exposed How Big the Universe Really Is
The James Webb Space Telescope’s COSMOS-Web map captures \~780,000 galaxies in one field spanning 13.5 billion years. Compared with the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, this panorama is larger, deeper, and richer in detail. Infrared imaging exposes previously hidden structure in the cosmic web—filaments, clusters, and vast voids. Highlights include unexpectedly bright, chemically mature early galaxies and unusual mergers like the figure-8 “Infinity Galaxy.” Overall, the universe appears larger, denser, and faster-evolving in its youth than earlier models predicted.
