Poplar trees are a good source of fuel. They can be grown, chipped and burnt to produce electricity. Unlike coal and oil they grow again. Scientists at New Hampshire University are studying poplar trees to find out how they grow so much faster than other trees. Burning fast-growing poplar trees for electricity could be a way of reducing carbon emissions from traditional electricity-producing fossil fuels.
