The region of Shangri-La in China s Eastern province is one of the most breath-taking areas of bio-diversity left in the world. Nature has left its mark here in many different ways, from the mountains on the Tibetan plateau to the gorges carved deep by the great rivers of Asia. As the province becomes more accessible to the outside world it runs the risk of overuse of its natural resources, thus the importance of sustainable management of these resources; for the region s population and future generations.
