Plant Parts: Roots
Upon viewing the Plant Parts video series, students will be able to do the following: Recognize that plants have many parts, and that each part performs specific functions. List many different parts of plants that we eat. Describe the two main types of roots and how they absorb water and minerals from the soil. Name the two main types of stems, herbaceous and woody, and describe how they transport water, nutrients, and minerals between the roots and leaves. Discuss how plants produce their own food through photosynthesis which mainly takes place in leaves.
