Science Experiment for Preschoolers: Christmas Ice
Let’s bring a science experiment to a winter wonderland! This simple and Christmas activity to do with young children, but I liked fizzing the magical Christmas Wonderland myself too. It is a simple way to make me feel happy as a child again. MATERIALS: - Baking soda - Food colouring - Glitter - Water - Vinegar - Paper and tape - Snowflake or other winter moulds - Pipette or spoon - Tray INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Put baking soda, food colouring, glitter together in a tray. Slowly add small amounts of water, and then mix. We’re looking for the consistency of wet sand. Wet and moldable. (2) When it reaches this point, put the sand in your moulds of choice. You can make a Christmas tree mould by rolling a piece of paper in a cone and taping it shut. (3) Freeze the moulds. (4) Remove your moulds and place them into the tray. Sprinkle them with more baking soda. (5) Taking a small amount of vinegar in a pipette or spoon, drop it onto the moulds. Watch them fizz and disappear into the snow!
