It's a hard world out there, especially for a little guy. So what's a soft-bodied animal to do? Turns out that marine invertebrates basically figured out the best defense system of all time, and nobody's a better demonstration of that than ammonites. Their swirled shells are so tough that they can keep mosasaurs out. So let's talk about the intense evolutionary arms race that gave us the humble sea shell.
