Wearable Technology by Design Engineer Amanda Parkes
Amanda Parkes, PhD is fashion technologist and biomedia/wearable tech designer, and is leading the development of MNY's Tech Annex- high technology fashion & textiles R&D space. She is also the founder of Skinteractive Studio, offering conceptual design and technological development on wearable technology, hi-tech textiles, fashion manufacturing, and interactivity. Amanda is a visiting scientist at the MIT Media Lab and an adjunct professor in the Columbia University Dept of Architecture. Her past work includes founding Bodega Algae, a company developing a patented algae photobioreactor for producing biofuel, and the development of exhibits and educational media at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the Science Museum in London and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
