Lightning is spectacular, from a distance. It's nature's way of transferring electricity within the sky, or between the sky and the ground. When lightning is nearby, it is a threat to safety. People are struck by lightning, in many cases because they did not take precautions. Along with learning the science behind lighting, this program focuses on lightning safety outdoors, and indoors. While lightning is one thunderstorm hazard, another thunderstorm hazard is high wind that could produce damaging gusts, even without a tornado.
