Distillation of Ink
We use distillation to remove the water from ink. The ink is heated in a conical flask with a delivery tube running to a beaker. The water has a lower boiling point and so it evaporates before the ink. The water condenses as it travels along the delivery tube and we end up with separate samples of water and much more concentrated ink. Chemistry - Chemical Industries - Learning Points. Mixtures, unlike compounds, are usually easy to separate. Distillation is used to separate mixtures based on their boiling points. Distillation involves evaporation followed by condensation. A Twig Experiment Film. Let students experience real experiments in lab conditions anywhere, from setup, method all the way through to analysis and real-world application.
