Felt Tip Chromatography
We use chromatography to see what colours make up the ink in different coloured felt tip pens. Different coloured dots are drawn on a piece of chromatography paper and this is lowered into a chromatography jar containing water. We watch as the ink climbs up the paper and separates into different colours. Chemistry - Atoms And Bonding - Learning Points. Moisture can carry soluble chemicals by means of capillary action. Chemicals will move at different speeds during capillary action depending on their size and solubility in the solvent used. Chromatography is a common method used to separate mixtures into their components. A Twig Experiment Film. Let students experience real experiments in lab conditions anywhere, from setup, method all the way through to analysis and real-world application.
