Exploring Mars: Beagle 2 and the Search for Life
The video describes engineers and technicians at EADS Estrum in the UK working on the Mars lander, Beagle 2, which is set to launch in June. Beagle 2 is the first commercial sponsor for the company and will be carried by the Mars Express spacecraft. It will detach from its mother craft and use gas-filled bags to cushion its landing on Mars, to explore the planet for signs of past and present life. This mission presents a unique opportunity for Mars exploration, coinciding with Mars being at its closest to Earth in August.
