Finding Surface Area of a Rectangular Prism
In this math video we will be finding the surface area of a rectangular prism. We will begin by understanding that surface area is the sum of the areas of all the faces of the shape. We will identify the six faces of the given net of a rectangular prism. We will review and use the formula for area of a rectangle as A=bh. We identify the base and height of each rectangular face. We will multiply to find the product of each base and height. We will add the areas of the six faces together and understand that the sum represents the surface area of the rectangular prism. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.
