Forming Iron Sulfide
We examine the different properties of iron and sulfur when they are mixed and when they are chemically combined. When iron and sulfur are mixed they retain their individual properties. When they react chemically to form iron sulfide some of their individual properties change. But, even though it was formed using magnetic iron, iron sulfide is not magnetic. Chemistry - Periodic Table - Learning Points. Mixtures can be separated into their constituent parts. Compounds are the result of a chemical change. Compounds are hard to separate because the atoms in them are held together by chemical bonds. Compounds have different properties than their constituent elements. A Twig Experiment Film. Let students experience real experiments in lab conditions anywhere, from setup, method all the way through to analysis and real-world application.
