This interesting experiment can be performed with very simple equipment. poke a hole in the lid of a bottle and place a long straw in it. also fix a horizontal piece of straw near its base. shut the base straw hole and fill the bottle with water. now remove your finger. water will gush out at a constant rate for a very long time. only when the water comes below the level of the vertical straw will the flow slow down.
