Let’s build a space game with cardboard! This is a scrolling game where you have to fly your spaceship by avoiding crashing it into asteroids, dwarf planets and perhaps some flying saucers. Ready, set, launch! MATERIALS: - Cardboard - 2 pencil - 2 wooden skewers - Plastic caps from plastic bottles - Long strip of paper with a space background - Paper spaceship - String - Scissors or box cutter - Hot glue gun INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Cut out a large piece of cardboard using the video as reference. The four corners should be small rectangles, and the sides should be long rectangles. Glue the long pieces to the edges of the largest uncut piece to make a box. (2) Take a pencil and pierce it through 2 of the smaller pieces of cardboard. Put hot glue around the pencil between the two pieces. Hot glue the cardboard to the inside of the box. Repeat with one more pencil and other two cardboard pieces. (3) Repeat step 2 with wooden skewers, but do not add hot glue around them. On one skewer, piece the centre of the bottle cap and put it in the centre of the skewer. Put another pierced cap on the exposed end of the lower pencil. (4) Tie the string in a loop around the wooden skewer, making sure it goes around the bottle cap. (5) Loop the strip of paper around the coloured pencils and glue it shut. (6) Glue a spaceship to the string, pointing up to the pencils. It should go left and right when you turn the bottle cap. (7) With a piece of paper, cover everything but the space background and the two bottle caps. Your travelling spaceship is ready!
