DIY Cardboard Whale Automata Toy
You loved my previous DIY toy so much that I decided to show you one more idea of a simple machine that explores motion and force! This device uses the force we put on a wooden stick to make the top piece jump and spin. We themed our jumping bit like a blue whale, but I encourage you to come up with your own themes.⠀ ⠀ MATERIALS:⠀ - 2 square pieces of cardboard⠀ - 2 rectangles of cardboard ⠀ - Paper straw⠀ - 4 circles of cardboard.⠀ - 2 wooden skewers⠀ - Scissors⠀ - Hot glue⠀ ⠀ INSTRUCTIONS:⠀ (1) Glue the cardboard pieces together to make a box. ⠀ (2) Glue together the circles - so you now have 2 thick ones. ⠀ (3) Put one skewer through the cardboard box, with a cardboard circle in the middle. The circle should be pierced off centre. ⠀ (4) On the short side of the box, make a hole to fit the straw. Glue it in. ⠀ (5) Put the other skewer through the straw, and balance the other circle on top of the pierced circle.⠀ (6) Glue water to the skewer and the whale to the straw. ⠀ (7) Watch the whale blowing water!
