Effects of Smoking

We test the effects of smoking by drawing first air and then cigarette smoke through apparatus that contains mineral wool and universal indicator. The air has no effect, but the smoke discolours the wool and changes the colour of the indicator. This shows that there are acidic chemicals in the smoke.
