Negative Exponent Rule
In this math video we will discuss and use the negative exponent rule. We will understand that a negative exponent represents a fraction containing a power. We will review the negative exponent rule which states to write the reciprocal of the power and change the exponent to its opposite value. We will learn that a negative exponent does not make a power negative and that the value of the base determines if a power is negative. We will simplify four powers to determine if they are greater than zero. We will discover that an even exponent will result a positive power. We will also discover that a negative base to an odd exponent will result a negative product. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.
