This craft is meant for a child and a parent to enjoy making together. How strong are your origami skills? Let's start with something simple to find out! Fold a paper crane and add colourful feathers to it! MATERIALS: - Craft paper - Marker - Scissors⠀ - Glue INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Take several thin strips of paper in different colours. Each strip should be slightly shorter than the last. Taking the shortest one, make a loop and glue it shut. Taking the next shortest piece, glue one end to the loop, and then glue the detached end to the top, making a slightly longer loop that is over the first. Repeat with all your strips. I did four colours and made six total loops of varying sizes. (2) Taking a square of paper, fold it on a diagonal to make a triangle, with the longest side being the crease. Take the top of the paper, the part that's not attached to anything, and fold it down and off to the side, so the left edge is now flush with the bottom edge. Repeat on the other side. (3) Repeat step two but with these smaller triangles. Open up the shape one time. Then start to fold it towards the centre, then crease it down. It makes a sort of fortune cookie type of shape. Make sure to crease everything down nice and firm. (4) Open up the top of one triangle tip, and bend it to make a head. Cut off the tip of the other triangle. Sit down the bird and let it open up on its own. (5) Take the larger loops and glue them together with hot glue. Insert them into the cut end to make the tail. Take the two smaller pieces and glue them towards the centre of the bird to make the wings.
